Cyber-Democracy

Congratulations on your publication of the Free Press on the internet. Wouldn't it be incredible if this technology really did have the democratizing effect my college prof claimed so many years ago...
-- Eric Aubery

Morning annoyance

I just finished viewing the SF Free Press online via WWW, and I enjoyed what I saw. I have been an avid reader of the SF Chronicle for over seven years. Not having a quality paper in the morning (how can you call what management is putting out quality?) has really been annoying.

Northwest support

Just wanted to send along support from here for your efforts to get a decent contract. We've been following your negotiations (or lack thereof) closely. It's unfortunate that management insists on turning this process into a pitched battle. We survived a similar situation during our prolonged contract talks last year and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Give 'em hell and don't give in! We're all pulling for you.

Desktop publishing at it's best

I had a look at the SF Free Press online and it's very exciting. Now that's desktop publishing at its best. Hello to all my old buddies from the Chronicle. I saw some of you working hard at strike headquarters on the Channel 2 News last night: best regards to EVERYONE on the frontlines of this nasty strike. You are a terrific crew! Thanks to ccnet for providing the cyberspace.

A new day

Great job! Your readers are with you. Keep fighting for your rights. And when you win -- which you will -- I hope you will continue fighting for the economic rights of your readers, as well.

Too often, the old Chron and Ex served as the local trickle-down mouthpiece, supporting anti-union candidates (like Pete Wilson, Tom Campbell, etc.) with claims that they are "moderates", always supported with errors of omission and comission that would choke an 8th grade journalism professor.

Here is to the dawn (hopefully) of a bright new day! Keep up the great work!

-- Hal Plotkin
